As we release the fourth issue of Circus: Arts, Life and Sciences (CALS), we wish to take a moment to recognize the team that has contributed to bringing this publication to life. We continue to benefit from the overall leadership of directors Patrice Aubertin and Cyril Thomas, with significant support from board member Marco Bortoleto. Marion Guyez and Louis Patrick Leroux have led the Arts section, Stephanie Greenspan and David Munro have led the Sciences section, and Julieta Infantino and Franziska Trapp have led the Book Reviews section. We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Jon Burtt and Katie Lavers, who took on the challenge of being the first editors of the Life section. Following the Perseverance issue, Jon and Katie stepped down from their positions to pursue other projects; they continue to be part of our larger editorial advisory board, for which we are grateful. Joe Culpepper and I stepped in to co-edit the Life section of the issue you are currently reading. If you are interested in serving as a section editor or reviewer for the journal, we invite you to reach out to us via email at to let us know which sections might be a good fit for you and your areas of expertise. We are always looking to expand and diversify our network. If you would like to collaborate by suggesting a theme and guest-editing a special issue, you are welcome to submit your proposals via email or by completing the contact form on the CALS journal website.

We are pleased to introduce David Munro, Head Physiotherapist of Australia’s National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA), as our guest editor for this special issue titled (Im)Possible. In his role, Dr. Munro has certainly witnessed the “impossible” in action. He continues to support numerous artists, clinicians and academics to make the impossible possible.

We also wish to thank the NICA for contributing the cover image for this issue, Élodie Levaux and Joe Culpepper for translating, Julie Ulrich for copyediting and the team at Michigan Publishing Services for the production of this issue.
