Representative sampling and ethical aspects are essential parts in corpus construction. Annotation conventions and linking to a lexical database are developed over time. The corpus design involves a) creating the necessary infrastructure for long-term work on a Swedish Sign Language corpus, b) providing the resources for corpus-based studies – both quantitative and qualitative – on the vocabulary and grammar of Swedish Sign Language, and c) making parts of the corpus data available for teaching purposes through open access.
