From its founding 150 years ago, Gallaudet University has been a mecca for the Deaf community. The campus is amid the bustling city of Washington, D.C., surrounded by the Capitol buildings and historical monuments. The Tower Clock is symbolic of the enduring legacies of Gallaudet University. As time passes by, Gallaudet continues to be a place that fosters community, friendship, diversity, education, and opportunity. Students’ time at Gallaudet is full of sharing and learning. As they graduate and enter the real world their experiences will stand the test of time, and much like the Tower Clock they represent both the long history of Gallaudet’s legacies as well as the possibilities for the future.
