Abstract
A reenactment of an address given by Laurent Clerc at Gallaudet University on June 28, 1864. The address account the tremendous progress the American deaf education system has experienced. Clerc expresses how after centuries of audism and oppression, the tides of deaf education had turned to embrace sign language and break through audist barriers.
