Thomas Gildea Cannon is an independent historian, genealogist, and retired lawyer. He is the author of Equal Justice: A History of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee (Marquette University Press, 2010).

James M. Cornelius served as editor of this Journal for 10 issues, 2019 to 2023, and continues as editor of the ALA newsletter For the People. He edited, and co-authored with Dr. Carla Knorowski, Under Lincoln’s Hat: 100 Objects that Tell the Story of His Life and Legacy (Lyons Press, 2016).

Glenn W. LaFantasie is the Richard Frockt Professor of Civil War History Emeritus, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green. In January 2024, he will begin teaching U.S. Military History at the College of William and Mary. He is at work on a book for Oxford University Press: Our Union to Restore: Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and the Transformation of the United States. He becomes editor of this Journal with the Spring 2024 issue.

Gordon Leidner is an independent researcher and author of several Lincoln books, including Abraham Lincoln and the Bible: A Complete Compendium (Southern Illinois University Press, 2023), which will be reviewed in the next issue of the JALA.
