Michigan Journal of Medicine

The Michigan Journal of Medicine (MJM) has been recognized with a Silver Award in the Excellence in Student Journals – Research category at the 2026 EPIC Awards, presented by the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP).

MJM was selected as one of two finalists for Volume 8, alongside the Challenger Research Journal from UC San Diego. At the 2026 EPIC Awards celebration, held during SSP’s Annual Meeting in Chula Vista, California, MJM received the Silver Award, while Challenger Research Journal received Gold.

The EPIC Awards recognize excellence across scholarly publishing, including publications, marketing, media, initiatives, and publishing technology. The Student Journal – Research category recognizes student-run journals that publish original research, reviews, and scholarly articles that contribute to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge. Submissions are evaluated based on criteria including innovation and creativity, quality, usability and accessibility, and impact.

This recognition represents an exciting milestone for MJM and reflects the work of the journal’s student editors, authors, reviewers, and faculty advisors. As a student-run publication dedicated to showcasing high-quality medical and biomedical research, MJM is proud to provide a platform for students to engage with scholarly publishing and contribute to the academic community.
