The editors of Absinthe: World Literature in Translation are pleased to announce the launch of our new issue, Through German: Contemporary Literature in Translation.

Absinthe 27: Through German features writers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as well as England, Ghana, Israel, Moldova, Romania, Syria, Turkey, and Ukraine. Spanning prose, poetry, and a radio play, the issue includes contemporary literary works by Abdullah Alqaseer, Catalin Dorian Florecu, Marina Frenk, Barbara Honigmann, Elfriede Jelinek, Ronnith Neumann, Ronya Othmann, Sharon Dodua Ottoo, Zafer Şenocak, and Serhiy Zhandan.

Whether the authors were born there, arrived decades ago, or came recently to perhaps find another home or perhaps just pass through, the diverse voices featured in Absinthe 27: Through German are all integral to the German-speaking world and its representation.

If you are able, please join us in celebrating this publication with a reading and reception on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Hussey Room of the Michigan League. (We will be following U-M Covid-19 guidelines at this event. Please remember to wear a mask and fill out your ResponsiBLUE Screening Check before coming to campus.)
