We are thrilled to welcome T. Shacon Jones II as the 2024 Editorial Fellow at Conversations Across the Field of Dance Studies.
Jones is in ABD status for his Ph.D. in Theater and Performance Studies at Stanford University, where his doctoral research examines the choreo-resistance work of Black queer men through the interplay of social dance, pleasure, and slowness, and seeks to disrupt rigid hegemonic notions of aliveness and joy. Jones brings a background in arts administration, having held posts such as Producing Humanities & Engagement Fellow at New York Live Arts, Black Male Initiative Program Director at Bronx Community College, and Arts + Justice Research Grant Workshop Director at Stanford. Furthermore, his dedication to diversity, as exhibited by past roles such as a DEI Facilitator, Visiting Professor, and Teaching Race Fellow, will serve DSA's mission to interrogate white supremacy in our organization and the journal's goal of facilitating conversations about complex topics related to racial and social justice and their relation to the field of arts and culture.
