Conversations Across the Field of Dance Studies is currently accepting applications for two open seats on its Editorial Board.

Time Commitment: Approximately 1 hour per week

Responsibilities:

• Attend at least two meetings per year (typically on Zoom, sometimes in person at DSA conferences).
• Review and provide feedback on calls for guest editors before annual circulation.
• Evaluate Guest Editor proposals alongside the Editorial Board to select one proposal for annual publication.
• Serve as a peer reviewer for 2–3 contributions per year, following each piece through to the proofreading stage.
• Participate in ad hoc review committees for Chats and TalkBacks as needed.
• Advise the Editor and vote on journal-related decisions.

Eligibility:

Applications are welcome from individuals at all career stages and professional settings, including graduate students and independent artists/scholars. We especially encourage applications from:

• Members of the global majority
• Individuals working outside the United States
• Scholars and artists based in the Global South

Please note: Individuals may hold only one elected or appointed role within DSA at a time. Serving as an Editor or Editorial/Advisory Board member precludes participation in other DSA committees or boards.

Term & Start Date:

• Term begins: September 1, 2025
• Duration: 3 years, with the option to renew once

Application Process:

1. A 100-word bio
2. A 250- to 300-word statement outlining what you would bring to the Editorial Board. This may include but is not limited to:
• Racial, ethnic, geographic, or other forms of diversity not currently represented on the Editorial Board (see Conversations website for current board members).
• Skills, experiences, perspectives, and multilingual proficiencies that would support the Editorial Board’s work.
• Your preparedness to take on the outlined responsibilities. 
• Your contribution to Conversations’ specific online format and its non-standard outputs, such as photo and video essays, interviews, and other multimedia (see examples listed on the website).
• What you hope to gain from this experience.
