To Improve the Academy is committed to developing pathways to leadership and has a multi-tiered leadership team, consisting of 1-2 Editors-in-chief and 1-2 Associate Editors. This core editorial team is complemented with Contributing Editors and Guest Editors.
The Editorial Team, composed of editors-in-chief and associate editors, works collaboratively to advance TIA’s strategic initiatives and oversees day-to-day operations of the journal, including soliciting manuscripts, managing the manuscript review process and making final editorial decisions, editing and overseeing the publication process, as well as other administrative functions. The editors-in-chief are the public face of the journal and ultimately are responsible for all editorial decisions.

Like Editors, Associate Editors oversee day-to-day operations of the journal and help ensure the journal’s overall health. Associate Editors apply and are selected to serve two-year terms and then ascend to the Editor position.

Contributing Editors support the TIA editorial process by regularly contributing to the blind peer-review process for submitted manuscripts. As needed, the editorial team solicits self-nominations from the full POD membership and selects Contributing Editors based on educational development experience and experience reviewing manuscripts. Contributing Editors serve 3-year terms, renewable for one additional term, and commit to reviewing 3-6 manuscripts each year.
Guest Editors help support publication of special issues. Guest Editors apply and are selected to serve short terms generally in the range of six months.
